MIT and Elsevier offer (OCW)

Posted in Educational Tech. by ccapozzoli on the March 30, 2008

MIT’s movement for OpenCourseWare is reaching new heights.  It is partnering with Elsevier, world’s leading publisher of science and health information, Elsevier serves more than 30 million scientists, students, and health and information professionals worldwide, to make more than 2,000 titles available on OCW.  Truly amazing! If this were available to me twenty years ago, who knows where I’d be today.  I hope that educators and students realize just how fortunate they are to have these resources available at no cost.  Open education is seriously breaking down the demographic barriers in educational institutions.  Bravo!!!

You probably noticed Google’s change today…. what a great idea.  They never cease to amaze me…..Read more about it here.  Let’s all do our part to help!!!

Google users in the United States will notice today that we “turned the lights out” on the Google.com homepage as a gesture to raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort called Earth Hour. As to why we don’t do this permanently – it saves no energy; modern displays use the same amount of power regardless of what they display. However, you can do something to reduce the energy consumption of your home PC by joining the Climate Savers Computing Initiative.

I just joined The Apple Network to find that I have begun to build a social network in about 20 minutes.  The nice thing about the site is that all of the groups and members are either education professionals or ones soon to become.  The resources and lesson plans are easily accessible and you can even add your own.  Get noticed by adding your own content and tutorials.  Create an educational group and invite members to join.  Give it a shot and join.  Also look for my group Teknowledg-E-Matters in Education.   Join me in the Big Apple!!

This is really easy and fun.  In the digital age, who would remember the cassettes as an audio resource? Do you think the students today would even know how to use such a device?  Check it out, create an mp3 and uppload it or choose a link where an audio file resides, then choose your skin, title, to build and embed your audio cassette.
